We started this website in May 2007 (and finally published it December 2007) to describe our travels around the World in the next year and Europe in the future. But first we had to sell our house!!!!
We decided in early 2006 after 2 of our friends had died before realizing their dream of a happy and successful retirement that we would retire early and use the selling of our house as a pension (Sorry Rhiain and Michael we are spending your inheritance) and enjoy our later years travelling to some of the places in the world we have wanted to visit and revisiting some of the places we already had.
The house went up for sale in November 2006 and I finished work in February 2007 and Jenny in April (although by then she had only a couple of clients) to organize our coming adventures.
Our first intention is to visit the USA, Cook Islands, New Zealand and Australia returning via Singapore then on our return to the U.K purchasing a Motorhome to tour Europe, Scandinavia and the rest of the U.K (in the warmer months). We have a particular liking for Scotland so we will spend a great deal of time there especially some of the outlying islands (midges permitting).
We hope that this website will be useful to other travellers and of interest to our relatives and friends. We will update the site as regularly as we can, however, it will much depend on internet access (something we need to learn about, any help gratefully received). The website will be a travelogue with dates, places of interest, (places to miss), weather, campsite information and other general chitchat. We are bound to meet some interesting people on our way and we will, we are sure, have some tales to tell. We both hope you will give us feedback and let us know what YOU are doing via the "Guest Book" page or our email address.
Grey Nomads????? A Growing trend of usually above 50 years of age people who travel Australia and sometimes further afield, finding enjoyment in living in a caravan or motorhome. There can be no better way than to have a worry free, fun and active retirement. Especially in a country where the sun always (well mostly) shines. We, that is, us UK Grey Nomads may have to put up with a bit more inclement weather!
