Itinerary

OR should we title it proposed itinerary?

Should you wish to download our (proposed) itinerary then please do so by clicking  http://ukgreynomads.co.uk/doc/Intinerary.xls

It is in Excel format 65kb and comprising at present 4 sheets, USA, New Zealand North and South Islands and Australia.  Cook Islands and Singapore are just for information and are at the bottom of  the USA and Australia sheets respectively.

You will note that some distances seem long for a day, others quite short. Please remember that this is a guide for us only and may (will) change as circumstances prevail. Whilst distance in New Zealand between towns or interesting locations  are comparatively short, this is not the same for Australia and particularly some parts of the Stuart Highway down the “red centre” likewise some of the roads across the top of Queensland can be quite boring. However for some (like us) who have never seen this part of the world, there will always be something of interest.

Also whilst we have built in “rest days” in what we think are places we wish to stay longer, if this is not the case we may drive on. Likewise we may decide to stay longer in others should we find a place particular worthy of a longer look. We can obviously be flexible with the itinerary

given that the only criteria at present (other than the Billy Tea safari) is to make sure we are  at the airport on the correct day for departure to the next stage of our journey!

We hope to add another column to the itinerary as we travel (as well as the information in the travelogues) on where we actually are on a particular day. Will we be on time? Ahead? Behind? Only time will tell. Could be very interesting!

We have used information from the following websites for our time and distance planning:

USA   >>>>>  Mapquest  http://www.mapquest.com/

New Zealand  >>>>>>  Yellow Pages  http://maps.yellowpages.co.nz/clients/places.cgi?client=yellnzyp

Australia  >>>>>>  RACQ   http://www.racq.com.au/cps/rde/xchg/racq_cms_production/hs.xsl/travel_trip_planner_ENA_HTML.htm

Please contact us via our Guest Book page if you feel we are missing any places of special interest, bearing in mind our interests lie in flora, fauna and scenery rather than the cultural side, museum’s, old buildings, etc.

I should add that I do like to photograph old machinery, rusty relics that have been discarded (no not the wife). If you know of any contact me!
